Giving Back. Making A Difference. 〰️
Service has always been an integral part of my life. Growing up, my mom always took me with her to volunteer at our church and local food pantry.
In high school we had minimum required community service hours to graduate. I spent many weekends making blankets for veterans, distributing groceries with FeedMore and cooking dinner for athletic banquets.

The foundation that was instilled in my childhood helped me form bonds with my community and hear people’s stories from all walks of life. In college I joined a non-profit, academic honors society which provided me with a platform to give back to my new community, Richmond, Virginia.
I’ll never forget the nursing student who gave us a ride at 7 AM. He shared his story about his troubled youth and how as an adult he had the courage to come back to school and give back to the community who aided him when he was in need.
His story had a significant impact on me because it reinforced the power of second chances and how far community service and giving back can give someone the courage to make new goals for themselves.

Pop-Up Stop
is an educational program that addresses textile waste in the fashion industry.
My professor led many events on campus and within the Richmond community to educate and encourage alternative options to discard textiles- we shared fruit too!
Through volunteering at events, I educated myself about the dangers of textile waste, especially as a fashion merchandiser, and am able to shop more sustainably and share my knowledge.

Volunteering has been a powerful way for me to connect with my community, give back, and witness the resilience of others. I am always interested in dedicating my time, listening to others’ stories and contribute to bettering my community.
